Climbing Maipo Valley
On September 30 we went to Cajon del Maipo with Franco Pancho and Nao, the idea was to make a long route to spend the day and to teach some techniques. The chosen place was Lo Valdés, the Green plate and the route the Miserables (400m).
To get to take the road to the Road of the Volcano to Baños Morales, after parking the car next to the road and walk about 10 minutes to the foot of the road. Inside the plates that make up Cerro Catedral, he had climbed only the red plaque by the edge.
The Route “Los Miserables” was bolted in 2006 and its the longest sport route in Chile. There are 10 pitches of 40 mts (400 meters).
For the sector where it is located, the rock is quite good and there are 9 pitches easy to the last. This pitch starts with a few boulder steps and then passes to a fairly sustained face climbing.
Climbing this route gives you very beautiful views and the continuous presence of birds of prey like condors and eagles that plays with the gusts of wind.
On the other hand the good thing about this route is that it is well equipped, which makes it good to learn, and also gives you the possibility to reach the summit.
I totally recommend this route, wear a helmet, fleece and headlamp!
