The tetonas are two summits of 3000 m that can be reached by climbing the sector of Lagunillas in the Cajón del Maipo. The easy access, its intermediate difficulty and the excellent views that are obtained from its summit make of this ascent a highly recommended excursion.
The ascent begins at 2100 meters to climb first to Sattler Point, then it follows a sharp edge marked by a dividing fence. We continue along the edge to reach the Morro Bayo, then we go down to face a rise to Morro Tórtolas, in this part the path has a variant by the left that is recommended to take the turn. On the right, the trail passes through an aerial part with a freezer to the right until you reach the summit of the Doves.
Once reached the Morro Tórtolas, the summit of the Tetonas is very close and is reached in 10 minutes. The total distance of the route is 6 kilometers, 12 round trip, with an ascent of 1000 meters of unevenness.
In the place is possible to appreciate a spectacular view of the snowy mountains of the Andes, such as the Sierra de Ramón, the group of Cerro El Plomo and other giants of the Andes and once at the summit see the front of the imposing Cerro Piuquencillo. On the other hand the appreciation of great quantity of birds like the different raptors, condors, eagles, eagles, dancers, caranchos, among others makes the excursion especially interesting.
Promotion of intermediate difficulty highly recommended for its quick access and opportunity of very good views. The best time is spring when there are still snows and the sun does not hit so hard.
